Welcome to the Dark Side

The bottle label for Cranachan Dark

GREETINGS to you all. Hopefully Monday didn't sneak up on you like it did for me - where did the weekend go?

And what a weekend it was down in the brewery! Not only did we fill our first cask full of delicious beer (more on that below), but we saw the successful launch of our newest beer - Cranachan Dark. And I don't think it could've gone any better than it did - you folks really do like a special edition! No sooner had it gone on sale, than it was gone. Almost. Despite the photo posted on social media on Saturday afternoon (for dramatic effect, or something like that...) there are a limited number of bottles left - around 6 x 500ml and 10 x 330ml - so if you didn't get a chance to pick some up at the weekend, there is still a chance. If you ping us a message, either on social media or at info@lennoxbrewery.com, we can keep them aside for you.

What is Cranachan Dark? It's a beer that we prototyped last year at a tasting session we had at Antartex Village - along with a bunch of other beers - and is a cross between our current 'core' beers, Oatmeal Stout and Cranachan Ale. Using the OMS as the basis for the beer, we add honey and raspberries to try to replicate the classic Scottish dessert in ale form. Yes, we know - the dessert usually has whisky as well; if someone out there wants to donate a used whisky cask to us, we'd be only too happy to try aging the ale inside for a while!

So far, the limited feedback we've received about the new beer has been fairly positive. If you were able to grab some on Saturday, let us know what you thought of it. As of just now, there are no definite plans to brew another batch of the Cranachan Dark - or if we do, it may be a limited release, like this one. If the feedback is overwhelmingly positive, we may change our minds...

Now back to the cask. Between serving all you lovely people on Saturday and brewing a new batch of our current MVP, Cranachan Ale, Iain somehow also found time to fill one of our new casks with delicious Golden Ale! What does this actually mean? Well, it means that our promise (or threat) to provide beer to a pub near you, is one step closer to coming true. In about a fortnight, once the beer has had time to condition fully, this bad boy will be ready for tapping and it's possible that you (yes, you again) could be drinking a freshly poured pint of GA at your local drinking establishment.

Which I guess begs the question - do we have plans for this particular keg? Yes. Yes we do. Will I tell you those plans? No, not right now... But I will, in the not too distant future.

Suffice to say, there are some exciting things going on at the brewery just now. Watch this space for further details...

Thanks
